1.Features of our aligner orthodontic treatment

Beatiful teeth and arches without any dental decay or gum disease

First, we thoroughly treat and prevent tooth decay and gum diseases, and thoroughly prevent them before the orthodontic treatment. During orthodontic treatment, it is often reported that teeth deteriorate due to tooth decay and gum disease. This is because orthodontic appliances increase the number of caries and periodontal bacteria. That should be meaningless, even if only the dental arch is aligned. The orthodontic treatment in our clinic very rarely causes tooth decay or gum disease.

Equipment for safe and reliable treatment

At our clinic, we use CT, cephalometric (X-rays for orthodontics), and digital intraoral scanners to provide safe and reliable treatment. A digital intraoral scanner can reduce the patient's burden and discomfort as compared to dental impressions with conventional analog materials. In addition, because it is possible to display every direction of the oral cavity with a digital intraoral scanner in 3D, you can recognize the teeth and the dental arch from all. CT scans can lead to knowing the relationship between teeth and bones, preventing eventual bone resorption and tooth decay.

MFT can improve oral function and have a beautiful smile.

Myofunctional therapy (MFT) is performed to improve the functions of the muscles around the mouth and face, as well as the tongue. It improves eating function and leads to a beautiful smile.

2.Features of our aligner correction

Aligner orthodontics is a correction treatment using a mouthpiece type correction device.
You replace the aligners every 1-2 weeks to move your teeth.

There are 3 main features of aligner correction.
  • Invisible
The transparent mouthpiece is virtually invisible when you open your mouth. You can be free from the bad appearance with the braces.
  • Keeping Comfortable and Cleanable
You can remove the aligners by yourself when eating or brushing your teeth. Aligners can be washed with water. So, you can enjoy your eating as usual and keep your mouth clean.
  • Fewer oral problems, such as pain, intra-oral damage and allergy
When wearing the aligners, you may feel a slight tightening. But it is usually slight. Unlike braces, the device does not come off or damage the inside of your mouth. In addition, because aligners do not use metal, a patient with metal allergies can undergo the aligner treatment.

3.Type of aligner

It is a mouthpiece type orthodontic device developed by Straumann, which handles implants. We recommend ClearCorrect for aligner correction at our clinic because it handle many cases.

Developed in 1990 by Align Technology, USA.
It is shared globally and is available in over 100 countries.

4. Flow of aligner orthodontic treatment

  • Treatment for tooth decay and periodontal disease
  • First orthodontic examination (twice)
  • Treatment plan/aligner order
  • Orthodontic treatment and myofunctional training
  • Wearing a retainer

① Treatment for tooth decay and periodontal disease

Even if orthodontic treatment improves the alignment of the teeth, it is meaningless if the teeth deteriorate due to tooth decay or periodontal disease. At our clinic, we provide orthodontic treatment after preventing tooth decay and periodontal disease. It not only aligns the teeth, but also creates a functional and healthy oral cavity.

② First orthodontic examination (about twice)

In the initial examination, X-rays including CT are taken to examine the skeleton. In addition, we evaluate the cause of the mal-alignment of the teeth, with examining the muscle of the tongue and cheeks, and habits of occlusion.

③Treatment plan/aligner order

A treatment plan is created based on the data collected during the initial examination. Discussing the treatment plan with the special coordinator, using 3D's treatment planning software, we define the plan for tooth movement from the start to the end of treatment and the treatment length. The aligners are ordered based on it, and the patient's own aligners are produced.

④Orthodontic treatment and myofunctional therapy

The aligners are replaced every 1-2 weeks to move the teeth. In addition, myofunctional therapy is performed around the mouth and tongue. (For myofunctional therapy, please see “Orthodontic treatment”) Orthodontic treatment is often completed in about 1-2 years. Let's get the ideal ways to eat, drink, and breathe as well as the alignment of the teeth.

⑤Wearing retainers

Once your teeth are aligned and you no longer need an aligner but wear a retainer. Because immediately after the alignment, the alveolar bone is not stable, the teeth easily move back to their original positions. To prevent this relapse, a retainer is worn to stabilize the position of the teeth. Wear a retainer to keep your teeth in proper alignment.

Adult Orthodontic Cases

Cases1
Before After

Due to insufficient jaw growth, the premolars were not fully aligned within the dental arch, causing the upper front teeth to protrude. Additionally, the lower right molars were misaligned and not properly occluded.

Through aligner orthodontic treatment and occlusal development, the premolars have aligned within the dental arch after occlusal development. All teeth, including the lower right molars, now occlude correctly. Furthermore, there are no cavities or periodontal disease present.

Cases2
Before After

The upper and lower front teeth were not properly occluding, resulting in gaps and misalignment in the dental arch.

Through aligner orthodontic treatment and occlusal development, the dental arch has been aligned, and the front teeth now occlude properly, allowing all teeth to fit together correctly. Additionally, there are no cavities or periodontal disease present.

Cases3
Before After

The dental arch was misaligned due to inadequate jaw growth. There was a tongue thrust habit, causing the teeth to not occlude properly and resulting in gaps.

Through muscle function training, the tongue thrust habit has improved, and with occlusal development, the dental arch has been aligned, allowing all teeth to occlude correctly. Additionally, there are no cavities or periodontal disease present.
